Pubget was founded in 2007 by Arnaout who holds an MD from Harvard, a PhD in mathematical biology from Oxford, and an SB in biology from MIT. Arnaout will join the CCC team as a Senior Advisor.

Co-founders Ryan Jones, formerly of Microsoft’s enterprise search group with an AB from Dartmouth and MBA from UC Berkeley, and Ian Connor, formerly of IBM holding degrees in physics and law from Queensland University of Technology, will remain as senior leaders in the Pubget organization responsible for Business Development and Engineering respectively. Arnaout, Jones and Connor are joined by the entire Pubget team including experienced talent from The Mathworks, Nature Publishing Group, The Broad Institute, 3M and MIT. CCC has named Emily Sheahan, former Group Publisher at HCPro, as General Manager & Executive Director.

In an ongoing commitment to support those in higher education, Pubget's corporate sponsorship begins a direct connection between Pubget's 6.6 million annual site visitors with HERC, an organization providing job listings at 550+ diverse member institutions.

Pubget will devise a marketing campaign to promote HERC's visibility on pubget.com . The campaign will focus on HERC’s regional and national goals of promoting diversity and collaboration through academic recruitment. Like Pubget, HERC offers a web based search engine free of charge for those in academia. HERC also offers job search tools for dual-career couples who seek to find jobs within a commutable distance, an especially important resource for scientific professionals. In addition, HERC offers members insights in the best practices for recruitment and other tips from experts. By combining PaperStats with Basch’s BOSS platform, libraries can get Pubget’s industry leading serials management tool coupled with Basch’s legendary customer service. Basch is the first subscription management service to distribute PaperStats.
Pubget PaperStats helps information professionals stay on top of holdings, content usage and spend analytics through a platform that yields more data with less effort than other approaches. Unique features include automatic holdings management for thousands of serials titles, automatic COUNTER-compliant statistics harvesting and spend analysis on a cost-per-view level. This process uses Pubget’s proprietary technology for collecting holdings records—the first to fully automate record collection. Through Pubget’s automation, subscribers to the WorldCat knowledge base can receive holdings changes in real time and with up to 30% higher accuracy.

Through this process, library staff members provide login and password information for the e-resources to which their library subscribes. Pubget then retrieves up-to-date holdings information directly from content provider sites and provides this to the WorldCat knowledge base. Following the initial load, holdings updates occur automatically.

Libraries, publishers and end-users see several benefits from this technology. It saves time for library staff by eliminating repeated manual transfer of holdings information from local systems. For publishers, a permission-based connection with the library eliminates the chore of sending data out to multiple suppliers. Finally, many libraries have found that this process gives end users more comprehensive access to their licensed content than other update methods.

The app was built to bring Pubget.com’s streamlined approach to searching, finding and saving papers to Apple’s game-changing device.

Unlike similar apps, Pubget does not require researchers to build a library of articles beforehand and upload them to the device. Instead, Pubget instantly connects researchers to over 30 million PDFs “cloud sourced” through the library at their school or work.
