Who we are
Meet the team.
The Pubget team has hundreds of years of experience in academic publishing, software architecture, digital marketing and enterprise search. We’re focusing our experience on streamlining academic content access and making science (and cures!) faster. Sound interesting? See our open positions and join our team here.
Ramy Arnaout, MD, DPhil, Chairman and CEO
Before Pubget, Ramy spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to not spend a lot of time searching science. He holds an MD from Harvard Medical School, where he was a Soros Fellow, a DPhil (PhD) in mathematical biology from Oxford University, where he was a Marshall Scholar, and an SB in biology from MIT, where he still plays pickup basketball. Since residency, he has been a clinical pathologist and systems biologist, all in and around Boston, MA.
Ian Connor, CTO
Before Pubget, Ian was a developer for Iris, creator of Lotus Notes, which later became part of IBM. During his Lotus-IBM career, he helped develop market-leading enterprise-level tools including Notes Client, Domino Server, QuickPlace, and Sametime, as well as Websphere Portal. Ian has built and fixed products on four continents for Lotus-IBM and two continents (so far) for Pubget. He holds degrees in physics and law (LLB). He is also CTO of ProjectLounge.com near Boston, MA.
Ryan Jones, President
Ryan joins Pubget from Microsoft’s enterprise search group, where he helped some of the world’s largest web sites build better user experiences with search technology. Before Microsoft, Ryan ran a media search business for FAST Search, and built technology market strategies at Commonwealth Capital and the Yankee Group. Ryan has an AB from Dartmouth College and an MBA from UC Berkeley.
Ahmed Abdalla, VP of Engineering
Ahmed was drawn to Pubget by his interest in advancing science. He joins us from The MathWorks where he helped deliver the world class science and engineering applications MATLAB & Simulink. Ahmed has designed and implemented cross-platform production-quality software and his experience ranges from back-end scalable infrastructures to front-end UI designs. Ahmed has a BS in biomedical engineering from BU and a MS ECE (Electrical and Computer Engineering) from GA Tech.
Mike Anderson, Director of Products
Mike joined Pubget just a few months after the site launched. Before Pubget, Mike co-founded a small LED lighting firm which developed technology that was featured in Popular Science, Slashdot and even a Fischer-Price commercial. While Mike’s formal training was in mathematics (namely combinatorics and optimization), he developed his programming skills during internships at NASA, the FBI and Lockheed Martin. Mike hails from West Virginia and holds a BS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Peter Bless, VP of Business Development, Advertising
Peter joins Pubget from WebMD, where he was sales director for the WebMD Consumer Advertising Group. Before WebMD he led North American sales for Nature Publishing Group’s Naturejobs.
